SC 11 is what I-85 would be if it had taste: the same corridor under the Blue Ridge escarpment, run past peach sheds, Revolutionary battlefields and the granite face of Table Rock instead of logistics parks. It opens under the Peachoid, Gaffney's million-gallon peach water tower, swings past Cowpens where Daniel Morgan fought the Revolution's tactical masterpiece, and ends at Stumphouse, the railroad tunnel Clemson used for aging blue cheese.

📍 National heritage corridor signs the length of 11; Cowpens' walking loop is the best-interpreted mile.

Peach Country

Gaffney → Campobello · ~35 mi

The Peachoid, Cowpens' fields, and roadside sheds heavy with fruit in season.

• 🛸The Peachoid — Gaffney

  A one-million-gallon water tower painted as an anatomically enthusiastic peach; House of Cards made it famous, Gaffney was already proud.

• 🛡️Cowpens National Battlefield — Chesnee

  Daniel Morgan's January 1781 double envelopment, the Revolution's tactical gem; the field reads exactly as drawn in the textbooks.

Under the Blue Wall

Campobello → Table Rock · ~40 mi

The last covered bridge, Pumpkintown's crossroads, and the granite face over the CCC lake.

  South Carolina's last covered bridge, 1909, red and photogenic over Beaverdam Creek.

• 🌲Table Rock State Park — Pickens

  The CCC lodge and lake under the bald granite face; the summit trail is the Upstate's rite of passage.

Keowee to Walhalla

Table Rock → Walhalla · ~40 mi

Hagood Mill's grinding stones and petroglyphs, then the tunnel and falls above Walhalla.

  An 1845 gristmill still grinding on third Saturdays, beside prehistoric petroglyphs found on site and now enclosed for viewing.

• 🛸Stumphouse Tunnel & Issaqueena Falls — Walhalla

  An antebellum railroad tunnel abandoned mid-mountain when the money died; Clemson aged its first blue cheese in the cool bore. Falls next door.

Worth a detour

• Caesars Head — An escarpment overlook a short spur up US 276; hawk migration in September stacks the sky.
• Kings Mountain NMP — East past Gaffney: the Overmountain Men's 1780 victory that turned the southern war; the ridge trail walks the fight.
