Crowley's Ridge Parkway is a ~200-mile back-roads route from Piggott to Helena on AR 141, AR 163 and AR 1, driven in 2 days, that stays off I-55 through the Ozarks, Ouachitas & the Bootheel.
Crowley's Ridge is a 150-mile crescent of windblown loess hills standing alone in the dead-flat Delta, and the only US scenic byway built on a geological accident. Its towns collected an improbable roster: Hemingway wrote in a Piggott barn, Johnny Cash grew up in a New Deal colony at its foot, de Soto likely marched past its mounds, and it dead-ends at Helena, where the Blues Highway waits across the river. Chain the two and you own both banks.
