Mississippi's Delta gets the songs; Arkansas's side holds just as much weight. This run stitches together the Elaine massacre of 1919, the oldest European settlement in the lower Mississippi Valley, a WWII Japanese American incarceration camp, the last great antebellum river house in the state, and the biggest oxbow lake in North America, with hot tamales at the end. Heavy miles, worth carrying.

📍 Arkansas Post and the McGehee museum anchor the interpretation; Elaine's memorial stands on Helena's courthouse square.
