The nation's oldest city, the beach where speed was born, and inland to a genuine 1890s Spiritualist camp — a weekend of Old Florida faith, art and roadside wonder, all off the interstate.

This trip chains: A1A: Flagler's Coast · Old Dixie: Cassadaga to Kissimmee

Day by day

Day 1: St. Augustine → Ormond Beach

Castillo de San Marcos and the Fountain of Youth first, then A1A south: Fort Matanzas by ferry, Marineland, and the canopy of the Ormond Loop — overnight where the Birthplace of Speed marker stands.

Day 2: Daytona → Cassadaga

Drive the hard-packed sand at Daytona and climb Ponce Inlet light, then inland to Cassadaga: a walking tour of the Spiritualist Camp, a reading if you're brave, and the haunted Cassadaga Hotel for the night.

Day 3: Sanford → Kissimmee

Sanford's brick riverfront, the Zora Neale Hurston museum in Eatonville, Tiffany glass at the Morse in Winter Park, and Lake Eola's old Orlando — end at Kissimmee's gloriously strange Monument of States.
